How to make your iPhone battery last longer

Danish JG by Danish JG

When the iPhone’s battery dies, it becomes nothing more than a paperweight. And it has been noted on occasion that Apple’s gadgets (even iPads) do not always last as long between charges as we would want.

We begin with the simple repairs or methods for people with a dying battery. Apple profited billions by hiding the fact that it slowed down the performance of iPhones with aged batteries, encouraging consumers to purchase a new phone rather than a replacement battery. But, you’ll discover a far more in-depth explanation of the best methods to extend the battery life of your iPhone or iPad, ranging from system-wide settings to third-party applications that you should stop using – or begin using – in order to save battery.

Best Instructions for iPhone user

Before discussing short-term methods for extending battery life, it is essential to understand what you can do to help your battery endure the test of time. We’ve addressed a few battery-related clichés, but here’s what the Sustainable Battery Coalition has to suggest:

  • Avoid both high and low-temperature extremes while using or storing lithium-ion batteries.
  • Limit the amount of time a battery spends at 100 percent or 0 percent charge since both of these “states of charge” are taxing on batteries.
  • Avoid “speed chargers,” which, despite their convenience, damage lithium-ion batteries more rapidly than conventional charging.
  1. Limit how often and when apps may access your location.

Checking your location settings to restrict app access to your location is a smart idea for privacy reasons, but it may also save battery life. Here’s how to access your Location Services configuration:

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Select Privacy
  • Select Location Services
  • Review the list and modify settings for each app by touching on its name in the list.
  1. Ensure Your Battery Is in Good Health

A battery that is old and no longer operating optimally might cause battery drain. iPhone battery drainage too fast is unluckily a common problem faced by iOS users. The blog posted on Nextgenphone is literally life-saving for iPhone users who are facing iPhone battery drainage fast issues; follow these procedures to determine the condition of your battery:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Scroll down and choose battery.
  • Select Battery Health.
  1. Turn off Wi-Fi while not in use.

Always having Wi-Fi on is a certain method to deplete your battery quickly. If you’re not using Wi-Fi, disable it by pressing;

  • Settings
  • Wi-Fi
  • Move to off-white/white
  • Additionally, you may disable Wi-Fi on your iPhone using the Control Center.
  1. Limit the use of Bluetooth by apps

It’s perfectly OK to provide Bluetooth access to applications that need it for Bluetooth-enabled gadgets, but it’s probably a good idea to deny access to retail outlets. How to access the Bluetooth settings:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Select Privacy.
  • Select Bluetooth.
  • Deactivate any apps on this list that do not need a Bluetooth connection to operate.
  1. Enable Low Power Mode

A prompt to activate Low Power Mode will appear when the iPhone’s battery reaches 20 percent, but you may enable it at any moment by touching the battery symbol in Control Center or by asking Siri to do so. Alternatively, you may access it from the Settings app:

  • Open Settings.
  • Scroll down and choose battery.
  • Toggle the Low Power Mode switch.
  • With Low Power Mode enabled, the battery symbol above your iPhone will be grey.
  1. Activate Airplane Mode in Areas with Poor Signal

Apple officially classifies a battery as “poor” when its health falls below 80 percent during the first 1000 charge cycles. When you are in an area with no cellular service or a weak signal, your iPhone’s battery drains as it searches for a signal or attempts to connect. If you have poor cellular service, it is better to enable Airplane Mode since you likely cannot accomplish much with a weak connection.

  1. Control Background App Activity

Apps that are operating or updating in the background consume battery life. To disable the option that enables programs to automatically refresh or update in the background, go to;

  • Settings
  • General
  • Background Program Refresh and turn off the switch.
  1. Reduce Background Activities

You may completely disable Background App Refresh or choose which applications can refresh in the background.

  • Open the Settings application
  • Choose General
  • Select Background App Refresh.
  1. Modify Mail Delivery Settings

In addition to disabling Background Refresh, increasing the frequency with which the Mail app checks for new messages may help save battery life.

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Tap Mail
  • Access Accounts
  • Tap “Fetch New Data” at the bottom of the screen.

You may select between Automatic, Manual, Hourly, Every 30 Minutes, and Every 15 Minutes options.

  1. Manage Notifications

Follow these steps to configure your iOS device’s notification settings in the Settings app:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Select Notifications
  • Adjust whether or not an app may give you alerts by toggling the switch for each app.

If notifications are enabled, you may choose to display applications on the Lock screen, in the Notification Center, as banners, or all three.

  1. Disable Downloads and App Updates Automatically

According to forbes guidelines, You can prevent battery drainage by turning off the “Automatic Background Updates”. If you prefer the functionality, keep it enabled; otherwise, you may disable it by following these steps:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Select your profile image.
  • Select iTunes & App Store.
  • Turn off Music, Applications, and Books & Audiobooks.

Optionally, you may disable automatic iOS update downloads by following these steps:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Tap General.
  • Select Software Update from the menu.
  • Select Automatic Updates
  • Tap the toggle to disable updates.
  1. Enable Dark Mode

Dark Mode may save a little battery life on smartphones with an OLED display, including the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, iPhone 11, and iPhone 12 series. Therefore it’s worth activating. This is how:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Select Display and Brightness.
  • Select “Dark” from the menu.

Conclusion:

There are several guidelines and ideas for longer iPhone battery life, as well as some problematic strategies that may or may not save much battery life. It’s impossible to say, but it’s not a bad idea to explore some of these alternatives if you don’t utilize the corresponding features.

Because turning off every function on the iPhone may not be the best strategy to save battery life, these suggestions should be used with caution and after the advice listed above.
