Rockstar Games is reportedly in discussions with Miami-Dade County for a significant on-the-ground marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI, aiming to transform major Miami locations into “Vice City.”
This reported initiative would represent a substantial real-world promotional effort for the highly anticipated game, integrating its fictional setting with actual urban environments. The proposed campaign could establish a new precedent for large-scale video game advertising.
According to a report by Beebom, Rockstar Games submitted a presentation to Miami-Dade County officials on June 29, 2026, outlining plans to decorate and transform prominent sites. These locations reportedly include Miami International Airport, PortMiami, Metrorail stations, and Tropical Park, among other county-owned buildings. The proposal suggests an “immersive arrival experience” at Miami International Airport, featuring a “full artistic wrap of a display aircraft,” limited edition luggage tags, and a photo backdrop. Other ideas include wrapped Metromover cars, Port Gellhorn-inspired installations at PortMiami, and a celebration of Miami car culture with a GTA 6 theme.

Grand Theft Auto VI, often referred to as GTA 6, is among the most anticipated video game releases globally, expected to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The franchise is well-known for its expansive open-world gameplay and satirical portrayals of American culture. Vice City, a fictional metropolis heavily inspired by Miami, has been a key setting in previous installments of the series. The potential for a real-world rendition of Vice City underscores the game’s cultural impact and the developer’s ambitious promotional strategies. An “Extended Look” at the game is also premiering on Netflix today, August 27, 2026, with a later release on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel.
Carlos Suarez, a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, confirmed that county officials have held discussions with Rockstar Games regarding the plans for GTA 6’s launch. However, Suarez noted that “Nothing has been formally agreed to or approved,” and any idea would require appropriate review and approval processes. Interested parties can monitor official channels for updates from Rockstar Games or the Miami-Dade County website.
