Max has announced that House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on June 21, 2026, alongside the release of a new teaser for the series.
The upcoming season continues the escalating conflict between the Greens and Blacks, with further intense battles expected in the ongoing Targaryen civil war.

Season 2 brought significant airborne battles and the elimination of several major characters, escalating tensions between the rival factions beyond repair. Daemon Targaryen’s vision in Harrenhal hinted at additional bloody conflicts to come. Fans of the original source material, George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, anticipate more of the war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Season 3 will consist of eight episodes. New episodes will air weekly, leading up to the season finale on August 9, 2026.
House of the Dragon serves as a prequel to the popular Game of Thrones series, detailing the history of House Targaryen approximately 200 years before the events of the original show. The series is co-created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal, based on Martin’s extensive fictional history of Westeros. Viewers can find more information about the series on the official Max website. Additionally, details on the literary origins can be explored on George R.R. Martin’s official website.
