Epic Games has announced the return of Fortnite iOS to the Apple App Store worldwide, allowing players to access the game natively on iPhone and iPad devices.
This move re-establishes a significant presence for the popular battle royale title on Apple’s mobile ecosystem, restoring direct access for millions of players globally.

Specifically, “Fortnite” is a free-to-play battle royale game where 100 players compete to be the last one standing. The announcement was made through Epic Games’ official social media channels, confirming that players can now download the game directly from the iOS App Store. According to the company, this allows users to “jump into the loop” on their iPhone and iPad devices.
However, the game’s return follows a lengthy period of absence. Fortnite was initially removed from the Apple App Store in August 2020. This occurred after Epic Games introduced a direct payment system within the game, bypassing Apple’s in-app purchase guidelines and its standard 30% commission on transactions. The move initiated a high-profile legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, centering on the App Store’s policies and fees. The game’s absence from iOS devices represented a significant gap in its mobile distribution, impacting millions of players and its overall presence. Following court proceedings in the U.S., Fortnite returned to the U.S. iOS App Store in 2025. This broader return to mobile platforms also saw Fortnite become available again on Google Play worldwide in March 2026 after policy adjustments by Google. Its expanded global availability on Apple’s platform occurred in May 2026.
