Google has introduced new “Disco Icons” for Pixel phones, expanding the available customization options for app appearances. The update began rolling out to users recently.
This addition follows Google’s initial release of custom icon styles in March, offering users more ways to personalize their device’s aesthetic. The company continues to control the selection of available icon styles.

The new “Disco Icons” provide a vibrant, distinctive visual style for applications on Google Pixel devices. This curated selection allows users to apply a consistent theme across their phone’s interface.
However, Google’s approach to icon customization differs from the broader options found in third-party Android launchers. Instead of allowing users to load any custom icon pack, Google offers a limited, company-approved set of styles. This ensures a consistent user experience while still providing personalization.
Furthermore, users can access and apply these new icons through their Pixel phone’s theme settings. The initial set of custom icons, which allowed for generation in various styles, was first made available in March. This feature provides a streamlined way to change the look of all app icons simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the integration of such features underscores Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance the visual personalization capabilities within its Pixel ecosystem. The “Disco Icons” are available for all supported Pixel phones, with no specific regional rollout schedule reported, suggesting general availability.
