At last, HMD’s cheapest smartphone, the Nokia 1, is now finally getting Pied. Company CPO, Juho Sarvikas, has just announced on Twitter that the device will start receiving it’s Android Pie upgrade starting today. This won’t be a regular Pie tho, as it will be among the first of its class to get an Android Pie Go edition.

It is also worth mentioning that the Nokia 1 is the last of the Nokia devices to get the most awaited Android 9 Pie. This rollout completed HMD Global’s update cycle for the Android 9 Pie. Of course, that if we omit the Nokia 2 on the list.
Earlier this year, Sarvikas announced that the Nokia 2 (which was released before the Go edition software) can’t handle Android Pie. This is despite the works HMD, Google, and Qualcomm put out just to make it run the latest Android version.
Back to the Nokia 1, the update always comes in phase. That means it might take weeks for some users to receive the update. If your Nokia 1 doesn’t notify you of the update, don’t worry as it should come soon.
The Nokia 1 features a 4.5-inch 480p IPS LCD display in 16:9 aspect ratio. It originally shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) and is running under MediaTek MT6737M SoC. For the storage, the phone has 1GB of RAM, and an expandable 8GB internal storage (up to 128GB).
There’s also a decent 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. Other features include interchangeable Xpress-on back covers and a 2150mAh battery.
