Forza Horizon 6 has officially launched, transporting the popular automotive franchise to Japan, according to a recent report. Players can now engage with the Festival Playlist, a core game mode, to acquire powerful hypercars and exclusive prototype vehicles.

This game mode is central for players aiming to expand their in-game garage with high-performance cars, offering a structured path to obtaining some of the title’s most sought-after vehicles. The game, developed by Playground Games, was released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on May 19, 2026, with early access beginning May 15 for Premium Edition owners. A PlayStation 5 version is planned for later in 2026.
Game Setting and Features
Forza Horizon 6 is set in a fictionalized representation of Japan, featuring a stylized version of Tokyo as the main city. This marks the first time the racing series has brought its open-world setting to Japan. The map is described as the franchise’s largest, with Tokyo City being its most complex and intricate drivable space, five times larger than any previous Horizon city.
The game’s environment offers a blend of urban areas, mountainous roads, and open fields, reflecting Japan’s diverse landscapes. Notable landmarks like Shibuya Crossing and Tokyo Tower are featured within the game’s districts. The title also includes a dynamic weather system that reflects seasonal changes, similar to its predecessors.
Availability and Development
Forza Horizon 6 is available on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate subscribers starting May 19, 2026. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to purchase it once and play on both Xbox consoles and PC.
Playground Games, the developer behind the award-winning Forza Horizon series, created the game with assistance from Turn 10 Studios. The development team focused on accurately representing Japanese culture and architecture, which has resonated with local players.
