Nicolas Cage has taken on the live-action role of Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider, in the new series Spider-Noir, which premiered May 25, 2026, on MGM+ in the United States and globally on Prime Video starting May 27, 2026.
The series features Cage as an aging private investigator in 1930s New York City. The character, based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, must confront his past as the city’s lone superhero following a personal tragedy.

Cage previously voiced the character Spider-Man Noir in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. However, the new live-action series is not a direct spin-off of the animated films. It is set in an alternate universe within the Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) franchise.
The eight-episode season is available in both “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color” versions, allowing viewers to choose their preferred viewing experience.
Developed by Oren Uziel for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Amazon MGM Studios. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who were involved with Into the Spider-Verse, serve as executive producers on the series.
The show has received positive reviews, with particular praise directed at Nicolas Cage’s performance. The cast also includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson.
Fans can stream the series globally on Prime Video. More information on Nicolas Cage’s extensive filmography is available via Rotten Tomatoes.
