The official trailer for Sony’s Spider-Noir has been released, unveiling Nicolas Cage as the 1930s gumshoe superhero in an upcoming Amazon TV series.
This new live-action series expands the popular Spider-Man universe, which is widely recognized for its successful film adaptations. The show is set to bring a darker, noir-themed take on the web-slinger to audiences, distinguishing itself with a unique period setting.

Nicolas Cage stars as the titular character, a version of Spider-Man operating as a private investigator named Ben Reilly in 1930s New York. The trailer shows Cage’s character donning a trench coat and fedora, characteristic attire for a gumshoe hero, navigating a gritty, period-appropriate setting. Cage previously lent his voice to the character in the critically acclaimed animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The series will be available for streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, with a global release set for May 27, 2026, following an MGM+ debut on May 25, 2026.
In a unique offering, viewers will have the option to watch Spider-Noir in two distinct visual formats: “Authentic Black & White” or “True-Hue Full Color,” allowing fans to choose their preferred aesthetic for the noir-inspired narrative. The series will consist of eight episodes.
The Spider-Man franchise boasts a rich cinematic history, with its film adaptations consistently performing well and garnering significant critical and commercial success. Notable iterations include those starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, all of whom received positive reception for their portrayals of the iconic superhero. This live-action Spider-Noir series represents a significant expansion of the character’s presence on television, moving beyond animated features and into a distinct genre.
Sony Pictures Television is behind the production of the series, continuing its efforts to develop and broaden the narrative scope of the Spider-Man universe across various platforms. The creative team includes co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who developed the series with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Additional cast members for the series include Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston.
