Code for a new “Google Home Display” has appeared within the Google app, signaling a potential replacement for the existing Nest Hub smart display lineup.
This development comes ahead of the anticipated release of the Google Home Speaker, expected in Spring 2026, indicating continued evolution in Google’s smart home device strategy.

The discovery was made within the Google Home app for iOS, according to a report by 9to5Google. The new device’s name, “Google Home Display,” aligns with the simplified branding of the upcoming Google Home Speaker. No further details regarding specifications, features, or a release date for the display are currently available.
Context for Google’s Smart Displays
Google’s current smart display offerings include the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) and the Nest Hub Max. The original Google Home Hub launched in 2018, later rebranded as the Nest Hub. The larger Nest Hub Max followed in 2019, featuring a 10-inch display and a built-in Nest Cam. The Nest Hub (2nd Gen) was released in 2021, and since then, Google has not introduced a new smart display.
However, Google Home chief Anish Kattukaran stated in October that the smart display is “the ultimate form factor to be able to deliver a really great home experience.” This statement, made without confirming specific product plans, suggested Google’s continued interest in the category.
The Google Home Ecosystem
Meanwhile, the new Google Home Speaker, announced in October 2025, is set to launch in Spring 2026. It will integrate the Gemini voice assistant for enhanced smart home control and conversational capabilities. This speaker is designed to work within the broader Google Home ecosystem, which users manage through the Google Home app.
