Infinity Ward will release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, 2026, aiming to deliver a grounded combat experience with fluid movements and precise gunplay. The upcoming title is the twenty-third game in the Call of Duty franchise.
This installment signals a return to the series’ foundational tenets, emphasizing realistic gameplay mechanics and enhanced player control. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Development for Modern Warfare 4 is led by Infinity Ward, the studio responsible for the original Modern Warfare titles. The campaign focuses on a “grounded experience,” immersing players in scenarios such as trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, and SAS night raids in Mumbai.
Multiplayer gameplay is designed around fluid movement and precise combat, providing players with greater control during engagements. This is supported by a new “Ballistic Authority” technology stack, which integrates precision aiming, physical handling, and realistic audio for authentic gunplay. The system aims for no bloom or guesswork, ensuring shot accuracy.
Additionally, the DMZ extraction mode will return, offering a dynamic combat arena where players make tactical choices behind enemy lines. The game will launch with 12 new 6v6 multiplayer maps set in visually distinct global locations.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare III. It marks the first Call of Duty game since Call of Duty: Ghosts not to be released on eighth-generation systems. Pre-orders are available, with more information expected closer to the October 23, 2026, release date.
