Control Resonant Early Access Exclusive to PS5, Sparks Backlash

Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that the upcoming Control Resonant will offer a 48-hour early access period exclusively to PlayStation 5 users. This decision has generated controversy among the gaming community, as PC and Xbox players will not receive the same early access benefit.

The move means players on other platforms will wait an additional two days to experience the highly anticipated title after its official launch. The developers’ announcement has led to significant backlash from gamers expecting equitable access across all platforms.

The exclusive Control Resonant early access window for the PlayStation 5 marks a strategic decision by Remedy Entertainment. This 48-hour head start grants PS5 owners an advantage in experiencing the game first, potentially impacting early discussions and online content creation surrounding the title. However, this approach contrasts with the expectations of many players who increasingly anticipate simultaneous feature rollouts for major multi-platform releases.

Control Resonant, also known as Control 2, is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The game was publicly revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025. Pre-orders for the Digital Deluxe Edition on the PlayStation Store are listed at $69.99.

Industry observers note that platform exclusivity, even for limited windows like early access, remains a common tactic in the competitive gaming market. These arrangements can involve financial incentives from console manufacturers to secure timed advantages. Nevertheless, such practices frequently draw criticism from segments of the player base who advocate for platform parity, especially for games that are not console exclusives overall.

This situation echoes past instances where platform-specific benefits have led to player frustration, highlighting ongoing debates about fairness in multi-platform game releases. Players are advised to monitor official channels from PlayStation and Remedy Entertainment for further updates. The announcement has fueled discussions across social media and gaming forums, prompting wider coverage on platforms like IGN regarding developer transparency and player experience equity.
