Google has expanded its “Preferred Sources” tool in Search to all users globally, allowing individuals to prioritize their favorite websites in search results. This rollout follows an initial limited launch in the second half of 2025.
This expansion aims to give users greater control over the information they encounter in search results, moving beyond algorithmic rankings to incorporate direct user input. It allows for a more tailored and relevant search experience, empowering individuals to prioritize content from sources they value and trust.

This capability addresses a common user request to see more content from specific websites they follow or deem authoritative, rather than relying solely on Google’s default ranking signals. It offers a direct pathway for users to curate their search environment, ensuring that results from their preferred online publishers are more visible.
The “Preferred Sources” feature, first introduced to a limited user base in the second half of 2025, enables users to designate specific websites they trust or frequently visit. Users can access and manage their preferred sources by navigating to their Google Account settings and locating the Search customization options. Within these settings, individuals can add or remove websites from their preferred list.
Once a site is added, Google’s search algorithm adjusts to show content from those sources more prominently when relevant to a query. This functionality is designed to work across various devices and platforms where Google Search is utilized, including desktop browsers and mobile applications. The tool’s global expansion now supports all languages, broadening its reach and utility for a diverse international user base.
The move comes as Google continues to refine its search experience amidst growing calls for user control over digital content and the challenge of navigating vast amounts of online information. This feature complements existing personalization options within Google’s broader ecosystem, offering a direct and transparent method for users to influence their results. Furthermore, it reflects an industry trend towards providing more granular user customization in content discovery platforms.
The global expansion is expected to be available to all users in supported regions immediately.
