Google has yet to roll out at least three features previously demonstrated for its Android applications, including a redesigned Google Photos interface, an updated Gboard keyboard, and enhanced Gemini integration with Google Messages. The unreleased features highlight a pattern of Google previewing updates that do not reach public availability promptly, according to a report from 9to5Google on July 5, 2026.

These features, initially showcased at various points, remain absent from the stable versions of their respective apps. This delay impacts user experience, as many Google apps have already adopted updated Material 3 designs that these unreleased features would complement.
Unlaunched Google Features
Among the noted features is a floating bottom bar for Google Photos on Android. While a similar floating toolbar was introduced for iOS in February, the Android version of Google Photos continues to use a taller Material 3-era bottom bar. Google has displayed this floating bar for Android on several occasions, including during the Wardrobe launch.
Additionally, a redesign for the Gboard keyboard, featuring pill-shaped keys, has not been widely released. Gboard began testing these keys in March 2025, which are designed to align with the Material 3 Expressive aesthetic. Despite appearing in various official Google app screenshots since then, this modern key design is still unavailable to most users.
Furthermore, the anticipated integration allowing Gemini Live to send messages through Google Messages has not launched. This capability was previewed at the conclusion of the Made by Google 2024 event. Although Gemini Live expanded its support for many other Connected Apps in May, Google Messages remains notably absent from this list.
These features were demonstrated publicly, suggesting readiness for deployment. However, no official timelines for their broader release have been provided by Google.
