Nothing’s original Phone (1), launched in 2022, has officially reached its end-of-life for software updates in July 2026, fulfilling its four-year support promise.
This development marks the conclusion of the software lifecycle for the company’s inaugural smartphone, impacting users who purchased the device at its debut. The Nothing Phone (1) will receive a final update this month to signify the end of its official support period.

The Nothing Phone (1) debuted in 2022, entering the smartphone market with a focus on distinct design elements, including its transparent back and Glyph Interface. The company, founded by Carl Pei, committed to providing four years of software support for the device from its release date. This commitment included regular security patches and operating system updates.
The end of software updates means the device will no longer receive new Android versions or critical security fixes from Nothing. Owners of the Nothing Phone (1) should consider this as they continue to use their devices. Continuing to use a device without security updates can expose it to potential vulnerabilities. Furthermore, future applications and services may eventually require newer versions of the Android operating system that the Phone (1) will no longer receive.
Nothing has since released subsequent smartphone models, including the Phone (2) and Phone (2a), which continue to receive active software support according to their respective lifecycle policies.
