Google is rolling out two new features for its “Help Me Write” artificial intelligence (AI) tool within Gmail. The updates aim to enhance email drafting by integrating external context and personal writing styles.
These enhancements are designed to streamline the email creation process, saving users time previously spent switching between applications and manually inputting information. The AI tool, initially introduced in 2024 and expanded widely earlier this year, is powered by Google’s Gemini models.

New Features Detailed
The first new feature, termed “Topic Contextualization,” allows Gmail’s Help Me Write to connect with Google Drive and Gmail itself. Based on a user’s prompt, the tool can automatically insert relevant information from these applications directly into email drafts. This functionality reduces the need for users to manually search for and copy details, such as budget numbers from a document, into their emails.
Additionally, the second feature introduces “Tone and Style Personalization.” This upgrade enables Help Me Write to analyze a user’s previously sent emails and generate new drafts that match their unique writing style and tone. This aims to make AI-generated emails sound less generic and more consistent with the user’s natural communication.
Availability and Rollout
The rollout of these new Gmail Help Me Write features began on May 5, 2026. Google states that full visibility across all eligible users may take up to 15 days.
The enhanced tool is available to subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans. It is also accessible for users with Google Workspace Business Starter, Standard, and Plus accounts, as well as Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education users.
