MX Player is a popular media player application for Android devices that offers a wide range of features such as hardware acceleration, multi-core decoding, and subtitle support. While many users prefer MX Player over the default video player on their Android device, they may find it difficult to set MX Player as the default player. In this article, we will discuss how to make MX Player as the default video player on Android.

Before we begin, it’s important to note that the process of setting MX Player as the default video player may vary slightly depending on the version of Android and the device you’re using. However, the steps we outline below should work for most Android devices running Android 4.0 or higher.

Step 1: Download and install MX Player

The first step to setting MX Player as the default video player is to download and install the application on your Android device. You can download MX Player from the Google Play Store by searching for “MX Player” in the search bar or by clicking on this link:

    Step 2: Open MX Player

After installing MX Player, you’ll need to open the application and configure the settings to your preference. The first time you open the application, you’ll be prompted to grant MX Player permission to access your device’s storage. Click on “Allow” to grant permission.

Once you’ve granted permission, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Configure MX Player settings

MX Player offers a wide range of settings that you can configure to enhance your video watching experience. Some of the settings that you may want to configure include:

    • Subtitle settings: If you watch videos with subtitles, you may want to configure the subtitle settings in MX Player. To do this, click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the screen, select “Subtitle,” and then choose the subtitle settings that you prefer.
    • Audio settings: MX Player also allows you to configure audio settings, such as audio boost and audio delay. To access the audio settings, click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the screen, select “Audio,” and then choose the audio settings that you prefer.

Once you’ve configured the settings to your preference, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Set MX Player as default video player

Now that you’ve installed MX Player and configured the settings, you can set MX Player as the default video player on your Android device. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open your device’s “Settings” app.
    2. Scroll down and select “Apps” or “Application Manager.”
    3. Find the default video player app on your device (it may be called “Video” or “Gallery”).
    4. Tap on the default video player app.
    5. Scroll down and select “Clear defaults.”
    6. Now, the next time you try to play a video, you’ll be prompted to choose a default video player. Select MX Player from the list of available players, and then select “Always” to set MX Player as the default player for all videos.

Congratulations! You have successfully set MX Player as the default video player on your Android device.

Step 5: Enjoy your videos on MX Player

Now that you’ve set MX Player as the default video player on your Android device, you can enjoy your videos on MX Player. Simply click on any video file, and enjoy!

    Customizing MX Player

MX Player offers a wide range of customization options that can help you get the most out of the app. Here are a few key settings that you may want to adjust:

    • Subtitle settings: MX Player offers a variety of subtitle settings, including font size, color, and position. You can access these settings by clicking on the “Subtitle” button while playing a video.
    • Playback speed: If you want to watch a video at a faster or slower speed, you can adjust the playback speed in MX Player. To do this, click on the “Playback speed” button while playing a video.
    • Gesture-based controls: MX Player offers a range of gesture-based controls that can make it easier to control playback. For example, you can swipe up or down on the screen to adjust the volume, or swipe left or right to skip ahead or back in the video.
    • Installing additional codecs: MX Player supports a wide range of video formats out of the box, but there may be some formats that it doesn’t support. If you encounter a video file that MX Player is unable to play, you may need to install additional codecs. Codecs are software components that allow media players to decode and play different types of video and audio files.

    Conclusion

That’s it! Now, whenever you open a video file on your Android device, it will automatically launch with MX Player. If you ever want to switch back to your device’s default video player, simply follow the same steps and select your preferred player.

Making MX Player your default video player on Android is a quick and easy process. By following these steps, you can enjoy seamless playback of your favorite videos using MX Player. Whether you’re watching movies or streaming videos online, MX Player offers a great viewing experience on your Android device.
