Activision has confirmed an open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ahead of its global release on October 23, 2026. This open beta will allow players to experience the game early and provide crucial feedback to the development team.

The upcoming open beta continues a tradition for the Call of Duty franchise, offering players a preview of new multiplayer content and mechanics.
Key Details on Modern Warfare 4 Beta and Launch
The full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on Friday, October 23, 2026. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Battle.net, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Players can secure early access to the open beta by pre-ordering the game. Digital pre-orders through platforms like the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Battle.net, or Steam automatically register players for early access, eliminating the need for a separate code. Conversely, those who pre-order physical editions will receive a beta code from participating retailers.
The open beta is expected to run for a minimum of two days. Pre-ordering also grants additional benefits, including the Hunter Killer Operator Skin and, for Vault Edition pre-orders, a 10% loyalty discount for players who have owned a Call of Duty game released after 2019 (excluding Warzone).
Game Development and Features
Development for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is led by Infinity Ward. Beenox is partnering on the PC version, while Digital Legends is developing the game natively for Nintendo Switch 2.
The multiplayer experience will introduce new and updated modes, including a 10-on-10 version of Gun Game. Furthermore, Call of Duty: Warzone will integrate Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression starting with Season 1. This transition will end support for Call of Duty: Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
