EMUI 11 update: release date, leaks, eligible devices list is here!

We have collected all the details of EMUI 11 and Magic UI 4, the next big update from Huawei and Honor that will be on the market very soon.

EMUI 11 (Magic UI 4 for Honor) will be the next big update from Huawei and Honor for their respective mobiles. Currently, the Asian manufacturer and its subsidiary have not given many details of the new iteration of the UI. In fact, both companies’ efforts are focused on EMUI 10.1, the latest stable version of EMUI. Luckily, several leaks have allowed us to see some details of EMUI 11, such as the list of compatible mobiles. As for the news of EMUI 11 and the date of release, there are still a few months left to know more about the Asian giant’s plans. For this reason, we have collected all the rumors and leaks to date about the new Honor and Huawei software update.

EMUI 11 release date

EMUI 11 release date

Recent leaks have revealed a possible EMUI 11 release date. According to some sources, the Huawei and Honor mobiles could start updating from the third quarter of 2020, from September.

If we take EMUI 10 as a reference, everything indicates that the dates should not differ much from the first forecasts. In fact, the official EMUI announcement will likely coincide with the launch of the Huawei Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro. At the moment, we can only speculate, as there is no official data.

List of compatible devices for EMUI 11 (Huawei and Honor)

Although the official list of EMUI 11 compatible phones has yet to be revealed, various leaks have provided a tentative list of devices compatible with the latest version of the Honor and Huawei skin. The list is as follows:

  • Honor 20 Lite
  • Honor 20S
  • Honor 9X Pro
  • Honor v30
  • Honor V30 Pro
  • Honor View 20
  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 20X
  • Huawei Mate 30
  • Huawei Mate X
  • Huawei Mate 30 Pro
  • Huawei MatePad
  • Huawei MediaPad M6
  • Huawei Nova 5T
  • Huawei Nova 5Z
  • Huawei Nova 5i.
  • Huawei P40
  • Huawei P40 Pro
  • Huawei P40 Pro Plus

Although the list is somewhat short, everything points to the addition of various mid-range and low-end models presented during 2019 and 2020. Models such as the Huawei P30 Lite or the P40 Lite could update to EMUI 11 sooner or later. However, today, we cannot confirm this information.

EMUI 11 expected features and changes

The novelties of EMUI 11 are unknown at the moment, although some media have ventured to confirm certain characteristics. On the one hand, the company could democratize the gesture system introduced on the Huawei Mate 30 (a system specially designed for curved screens that reduce the sensitivity of gestures to avoid phantom touches.

The rest of the news could be inherited directly from the functions of Android 11. For example, the inclusion of floating notifications in the form of a bubble, the reunification of notifications according to the application or the improvement of the system permissions that are provided to the applications (permissions single-use, more simplified interface…), not to mention reducing the energy consumption of Android processes and optimizing performance in general activities.

EMUI 11 with Android 11? What about Google service?

As usual, the numerical version change will be accompanied by the latest Android version on the market, that is, Android 11. Does this mean that there will be Google services for everyone?

Nothing is further from reality. Huawei and Honor mobiles that were launched without Google services will continue without the great G’s ecosystem. By contrast, mobiles that were initially launched with Google will continue to maintain compatibility with their services. This was confirmed by the company during the stir caused by the Donald Trump government. Still, it should be noted that the next US presidential elections will take place on November 3 of this year, so it is not ruled out that relations will change in the future.
