Fisch added the Fangsplitter Rod to its lineup of fishing rods on Nov. 7 with the Venue Pt. 2 update, tying the item to a five-part questline from a new NPC named Echo. The rod comes with 222% Lure Speed, 222% Luck and infinite weight capacity, numbers that put it among the stronger rods currently available in the game.
Key points
- Echo is found inside the Underground Music Venue and starts the Fangsplitter Rod questline when players select "I'll prove it."
- The questline has five tasks, including seven perfect catches of a Rubber Ducky using the Nocturnal Rod.
- Players must catch a Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid and a Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic.
- The final task requires seven perfect catches of any Megalodon using a weight-boosted Nocturnal Rod.
- The finished Fangsplitter Rod carries 222% Lure Speed, 222% Luck, 0.22 Control, 22% Resilience and infinite Max Kg.
Where to Find Echo and Start the Fangsplitter Rod Quest
Echo sits inside the Underground Music Venue, near the start of the stairs leading up to the stage. Players who talk to him and select “I’ll prove it.” trigger the quest chain that ends with the Fangsplitter Rod. The venue has become a recurring hub for new content in Fisch, with other NPCs there running their own rod-reward questlines in the same update cycle.
Five Tasks Stand Between Players and the Rod
The first task, called “Rubber Ducks Rule the World,” asks players to perfect-catch a Rubber Ducky seven times using the Nocturnal Rod, which costs 15,000 C$ at Synth’s Shop in Vertigo. Rubber Duckies show up at Vertigo’s Dip during rainy weather, and pairing the rod with Coral or Deep Coral bait makes it easier to hold the fish inside the catch bar without losing progress.
The second task, “Glistening Madness,” requires catching and returning a Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid. Colossal Squids turn up in the Ocean or Deep Ocean, including the Snowcap Cave pool and the Ancient Archives waterfall, during foggy Winter nights with Night Shrimp bait. Withered cannot be obtained through appraising, so players need the Withered Spear, which has a 25% chance, or the Decade Rod, at 10%, and can stack Shiny or Sparkling odds using a Shiny Surge, Night of the Luminous, Rainbow weather or the Blessed and Glittered enchantments.
The third task, “Days Turn to Nights, Nights to Days,” simply requires staying logged in for seven full day cycles, with Sundial totems in the game speeding that process along. Each cycle needs a full Day-to-Night-to-Day rotation to count.
The fourth task, “Wingripper Pt. 2,” calls for a Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic. Enchant Relics can appear anywhere, but The Depths offers much better odds than the standard 1-in-350 global rate. Catching the Relic with the Dreambreaker Rod gives a 35% chance of the Distraught mutation at night and 25% during the day, and since Shiny and Sparkling roll independently of other mutations, players can stack enchantments or wait for a Shiny Surge or Night of the Luminous before appraising.
The Final Quest Demands a Reinforced Rod
The last task, titled “The End,” requires seven perfect catches of any Megalodon variant using the Nocturnal Rod. Megalodons, Ancient Megalodons and Phantom Megalodons spawn in the Megalodon Hunt pool behind Ancient Isle, and Shark Head or Tryhard Worm bait works best for hooking them.
The Nocturnal Rod’s base weight limit of 10,000 kg falls well short of a Megalodon’s starting weight of 50,000 kg, so players need to boost it first. The Invincible enchantment removes the weight cap entirely, while a Cosmic Relic secondary enchantment adds 50,000 kg and pairs well with Herculean, which adds another 25,000 kg along with 0.2 Control. Once the rod can handle the weight, players have to hold the fish inside the shrinking catch bar through its rampage attacks seven times before returning to Echo to claim the reward.
Fangsplitter Rod Stats and What Comes Next
The finished rod carries the following stats:
- Lure Speed: 222%
- Luck: 222%
- Control: 0.22
- Resilience: 22%
- Max KG: infkg
No passive ability or special effect has been confirmed for the rod yet beyond its base stats. The Nov. 7 update also introduced a second NPC, Hammi, whose questline rewards the Hammyshork Rod along with levelable Shark Plushies, and players chasing more C$ for gear like the Nocturnal Rod may want to check methods for how to get Glorp Bux fast in Roslit Bay. The Underground Music Venue has hosted several of these questlines recently, including one where players had to track down Tormentor during a specific weather event to earn the Oppressor Rod.
