NetEase Games will introduce Thanos to Marvel Rivals on October 22, 2026, at 9 AM UTC, serving as a non-playable raid encounter rather than a selectable combatant on the hero roster.
Key points
- Thanos arrives in Marvel Rivals on October 22, 2026, at 9 AM UTC.
- The character serves as the primary boss in a 50-player cooperative PvE mode.
- NetEase Games confirmed Thanos will not join the playable character roster.
- The boss battle forms part of the Season 10.5 Path to Doomsday event.

The villain enters the superhero shooter as part of Season 10.5, which focuses on content adapted from Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Thanos serves as the centerpiece for the upcoming Path to Doomsday event, marking the character’s first formal appearance in the title.
Thanos Arrives as a 50-Player PvE Raid Boss
Thanos will headline a dedicated player-versus-environment mode rather than entering the standard competitive character selection pool. Marvel Rivals creative director GuangGuang confirmed in the Dev Vision Vol. 22 broadcast that 50 players will collaborate concurrently to battle Thanos and his invading army.
The design mirrors an earlier cooperative mode built around Ultron, where teams banded together during the Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE scenario. NetEase Games previously expanded Marvel Rivals with mid-season cosmetic drops and thematic activities, and the studio is applying that same event cadence to the Season 10.5 raid.
Endgame Event Structure and Boss Mechanics
The Path to Doomsday event tasks large player groups with fighting through waves of hostile forces before confronting Thanos directly. GuangGuang noted that the encounter will rely on shared objectives and coordinated fire from dozens of participants to deplete the villain’s health pool.
Seasonal content updates have regularly brought new modes and cosmetics to Marvel Rivals, and Season 10.5 uses the cooperative raid structure to expand the game beyond standard objective-based PvP matches. Players will face Thanos alongside existing antagonists like Hela, who already populates the game’s broader comic villain lineup.
Playable Roster Status and Future Villain Plans
NetEase Games confirmed that Thanos will remain non-playable during the Path to Doomsday rollout. While players previously took direct control of Loki during an earlier Avengers-themed PvP mode, the Endgame mode restricts Thanos strictly to an opposing computer-controlled role.
Earlier unverified leaks suggested Thanos might eventually join the playable lineup as a standard combatant. NetEase Games has not validated those claims, and the studio has made no commitments regarding a playable version of the character. Similar to previous character releases in Marvel Rivals, additions to the playable selection require dedicated balancing across damage, support, and vanguard roles before launch.
