The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to release a 30th Anniversary Set featuring all foil cards and a new rarity. This special collection arrives as part of the ongoing global celebration of the Pokémon franchise’s three-decade milestone.

This anniversary set marks a significant event for collectors and players, introducing an expansion where every card, including Basic Energy cards, will have a foil finish. The set also debuts a new rarity known as “Futuristic Rare.”
Set Details and Release
The 30th Anniversary Pokémon TCG set is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 16, 2026. This marks the first time a Pokémon TCG expansion will launch simultaneously across all regions. The main set will comprise 128 cards.
Every booster pack in the 30th Anniversary set will contain six foil cards—five standard foil cards and one foil Basic Energy card. Additionally, each pack will include a code card for Pokémon TCG Live and one of 30 collectible Pikachu illustration cards.
New Rarity and Classic Cards
The introduction of the “Futuristic Rare” rarity is a new feature for the TCG. While details on specific cards are still emerging, the set is confirmed to include 30 classic cards from the TCG’s history. These special classic cards will feature a ’30’ Pikachu stamp and a foil finish, though they will not be legal for tournament play. Notable reprints announced so far include the Base Set Charizard and the Pikachu & Zekrom Tag Team card.
Broader Anniversary Celebrations
The TCG set is part of broader celebrations for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year. Fans globally are engaging with various aspects of the franchise, including the latest video game, Pokémon Champions, and preparing for GO Fest 2026. The Pokémon Company International has also launched a 30th merchandise collection available at the Pokémon Center.
