Realme (stylized as “realme”) has been very busy releasing new devices almost every quarter. After the announcement of the realme 3 and realme 3 Pro earlier this year, we expect realme to launch another device in China with a pop-up camera design. Aside from this, the company has also been very busy pushing updates for their existing devices. A trait they didn’t inherit from OPPO.
Since the debut of the ColorOS 6 on the realme 3, users of the previous generation devices have been asking for dates when the new software update will be available. Madhav Sheth, CEO for realme India, once confirmed that the update is coming in June of 2019. Luckily for us, the realme 2 Pro users, ColorOS 6 is finally coming to our device earlier than expected.

According to Sheth, realme 2 Pro will be getting its “first” Android Pie + ColorOS 6 update on 15th of May. First, because this is a Beta update. That means, we should expect more stability updates coming in a phased manner within 15-20 days after the initial release.
What’s more exciting with this new update is the inclusion of HAL3 support for the 2 Pro. An important Camera2 API component to allow Google Camera on the device. This also means that the 2 Pro will finally support “Full” Camera2 API. Something the fans have been asking since last year.
Aside from the 2 Pro, Sheth also mentioned dates for other realme devices. The realme 1 and realme U1 will get its first Android Pie + ColorOS 6 Beta update on 5th of June, while the realme 2 and realme C1 will follow on 15th. No additional features were mentioned for these devices.
