Elder Scrolls 6 Reportedly Named Sentinel, Reveal Near

Bethesda's long-awaited RPG may be called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, with an official reveal reportedly coming in November.

Bethesda’s next role-playing game will officially be called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, according to a new report from The Verge, with an announcement possible as soon as November. The studio has stayed almost entirely silent on the game since a brief teaser at E3 2018.

Key points

  • The Verge reports Bethesda's next RPG will be officially titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.
  • The title could be announced as soon as November, coinciding with Skyrim's 15th anniversary on November 11.
  • Sentinel is reportedly set in Hammerfell and will explore the history of the Elder Scrolls artifacts.
  • Fans deduced the Sentinel title in August after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted about a live playthrough with the title censored.
  • Neither Bethesda nor Microsoft has confirmed the title, and no release date or platform details have been shared.

The timing lines up with a symbolic date: The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim turns 15 on November 11, 2026. For a fan base that has waited eight years for any official confirmation, even a title reveal would count as the biggest Elder Scrolls news since that original teaser.

What The Verge’s Report Says

Tom Warren’s Notepad newsletter at The Verge cites sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans who say the RPG will carry the Sentinel subtitle. Warren writes that Sentinel will be the first game in the series centered on the history of the Elder Scrolls, delving into the origins of the artifacts that give the franchise its name. He also reports that Bethesda Softworks has been showing gameplay internally in recent months, though no footage has surfaced publicly.

According to the report, Sentinel will send players to Hammerfell, a province previously explored in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and in The Elder Scrolls Online. The report cautions that the November news should be limited to a name reveal, with no new trailer or gameplay expected alongside it.

How Fans Landed on the Name Months Earlier

The Sentinel title isn’t a complete surprise. In August, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma visited Bethesda Game Studios’ Maryland office and posted on X about watching a live playthrough, writing the game’s name with eight asterisks in place of the subtitle. Fans counted the characters and matched them to Sentinel, a Redguard kingdom and port city in Hammerfell.
