Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is the younger sibling of the flagship Mi 9T Pro. This phone is for those who prefer a pocket-sized device for easy one-handed operation. It comes with the same features as the Xiaomi Mi 9, Samsung AMOLED display, Sony 48MP camera, and improved in-screen fingerprint sensor.

    Xiaomi Mi 9 SE

Featuring IR remote control and NFC, Mi 9 SE comes with the world premiere of the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 712. The only difference is the 5.97″ Dot Drop Full-screen display.

In the software part, Mi 9 SE runs with the MiUI 10 based on Android 9.0. But MiUI is not for everyone. So, many people prefer flashing custom ROM on Xiaomi devices. As Xiaomi has a vast fan base, many of them are developers too. We got a large developer community, the XDA forum, where we can see tons of development on Mi phones. So, in order to use the full potential of your device, you must install a custom recovery like TWRP. Custom recovery also allows you to root your device by flashing Magisk or SuperSU. Once you root your phone, you can utilize the root-based apps or Xposed Modules.

Therefore, in this post, we will guide you to install TWRP on your Xiaomi Mi 9 SE and root using Magisk Systemless utility. We have a detail step-by-step tutorial below; even a first time user can understand it correctly. Keep reading, and do not skip a single part. Otherwise, you may get stuck somewhere.

TWRP for Mi 9 SE is an unofficial build, but it’s quite stable with all working features, including data partition decryption, MTP, Nandroid backups, and more.

But in order to install the TWRP recovery on Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, you need to unlock the bootloader of your device. Without that, you can’t proceed to this tutorial. If you had already unlocked it, you can skip and proceed ahead. If not, we have a detailed tutorial on how to unlock the bootloader on Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. Check out the following guide:
