Ubisoft will shut down its free-to-play shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027, ending service less than a year after the title launched globally.
Key points
- Ubisoft will shut down Rainbow Six Mobile servers on January 15, 2027.
- The tactical mobile shooter launched globally on February 23, 2026, after years of testing.
- A final seasonal content update will roll out during the week of October 12, 2026.
- Ubisoft plans to share details regarding refunds for in-game purchases in an upcoming update.

The announcement brings an unexpected finish to the mobile adaptation. Despite maintaining regular monthly updates following its February 2026 launch, the publisher is withdrawing support to shift its internal resources toward other company priorities.
Shutdown Timeline and Final Content Update
According to an announcement on the Ubisoft blog, online functionality will continue without interruption until the January deadline. The development team confirmed that players can access matches throughout the remaining operational window.
The game will receive one final scheduled season during the week of October 12 to October 19. That update will bring Rainbow Six Mobile to 15 total seasons of content, counting the testing phases conducted during its original soft launch in 2023.
Purchase Refunds and Resource Reallocation
Ubisoft explained in an official FAQ that leadership decided on the closure to align team resources with long-term strategic goals. The studio praised players for participating in competitive tournaments and community content creation across the game’s lifespan.
The development team stated that it will soon release additional information outlining the phased shutdown. Those future details will explain how players can receive refunds for in-game purchases and mobile microtransactions.
Ubisoft’s Free-to-Play Portfolio Shift
Ubisoft initially announced Rainbow Six Mobile in 2022 before executing a worldwide release on February 23, 2026. The impending closure follows the retirement of XDefiant, another free-to-play multiplayer shooter that Ubisoft closed last year.
The publisher continues to adjust its release plans leading up to January 2027. Although Rainbow Six Mobile is ending, Ubisoft still plans to expand the Tom Clancy universe on mobile devices with Rainbow 6 Tactics, which is scheduled to arrive next year.
