One UI 9 Integrates Third-Party Calls into Samsung Dialer

Samsung’s One UI 9, based on Android 17, will integrate call logs from third-party applications like WhatsApp and Google Meet directly into the default Phone app. This feature is currently rolling out to users participating in the One UI 9 beta program on select Galaxy S26 series devices.

The integration aims to address the fragmented experience users face when managing calls across multiple communication platforms. By consolidating call history, Samsung seeks to streamline how users track and initiate calls, regardless of the app used.

Key Details of the New Call Feature

The new One UI 9 call integration displays audio and video call records from WhatsApp and Google Meet within the standard Samsung Phone application. This functionality is enabled by a core API capability introduced with the Android 17 operating system.

Users can view full call details, similar to traditional cellular calls. The feature is reportedly enabled by default but offers customization options. To manage or disable the integration, users can navigate to the Phone app’s Settings, then ‘Other call settings,’ and finally ‘Other calling apps.’

    Availability and Rollout

The One UI 9 beta program commenced on May 13, 2026, for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra in regions including Germany, the UK, South Korea, and the US, with India and Poland joining later in May.

The stable version of One UI 9 is anticipated to launch in July 2026. This release is expected to coincide with the debut of new Samsung foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.

    Context and Limitations

Many smartphone users rely heavily on third-party voice over IP (VoIP) services for communication, often more so than traditional phone calls. This new feature aims to centralize call management, providing a more cohesive user experience.

However, the current beta version of the feature supports only WhatsApp and Google Meet. Other popular communication platforms, such as Telegram, Signal, Messenger, Discord, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, are not yet integrated. Future updates may expand compatibility to include more applications.

The integration also extends to features like Samsung’s Now Brief, which can now detect calls made over supported third-party apps, preventing redundant reminders for calls already completed.
