To seek the attention of media and users, OnePlus releases special models of their smartphones, a week or a month after the launch of a flagship. In China, they launched the Thunder Purple model of OnePlus 6T, and within a week, they announced Mirror Black and Midnight Black variant. Almost a month later, the OEM announced another model of whopping 10 GB RAM OnePlus 6T, named McLaren Edition. This device also comes with their new Warp Charge 30 fast charging technology.

In software part, the OxygenOS 9.0.9 contain a new set of wallpapers, along with a new boot animation, sounds, and other themed assets. Thankfully, the developer community from XDA has extracted all these, which you can enjoy on your phone.

Like the standard OnePlus 6T, the McLaren Edition comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (4x 2.8GHz Kryo 385 + 4x 1.8GHz Kryo 385) processor with Adreno 630 GPU. Backed up by 10 GB free RAM, the storage of both the device is same. The designed is almost identical except the lower back that has new McLaren logo. The back side has the same glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 6), and the color variants are – McLaren black and orange.

Download OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition’s New Boot Animation

This file is only for the rooted users. Since changing the boot animation requires to overwrite the existing boot animation file located in /system/media, your device must be rooted. If your device is not rooted, you can do that using this Magisk guide. After that, download the new boot animation from the link below and rename it to “” Use ES File Explorer to replace the existing file from the root directory.

Sounds: 1 Ringtone, 2 UI Sounds, and 2 Notification Tones

OnePlus has added one brand new ringtone, two new camera UI sound and two new notification tone (leveled as Standard and MMS).

Both the sounds are usable in any device without root access, but the camera UI sound need root access in order to overwrite the existing files in /system/media/audio/ui. Again, you can use ES File Manager to replace the file from the root directory.

McLaren Edition ships with OxygenOS 9.0.9 which is actually newer than the latest stable version (OxygenOS 9.0.7). If there is anything new extract from this build, we will definitely update this article with the new goodies.
